<- R. M. Weiner <- G. Andrykovitch; 2-40. Strain shipped as an actively growing culture, but survives only 3 days in the post, making shipping outside of Europe problematic. Customers ordering from outside of Europe should inquire before ordering the strain. Decomposing marsh grass. United States of America, VA, Chesapeake Bay. Type strain.. Taxonomy/description (9865). Strain grows best on half strength marine broth (M.514a) agar plates, or on plates overlayed with a thin water layer, only. No growth in liquid half strength marine broth medium observed.. Strain lyses quickly. Transfer every 3 days to ensure viability.. Due to its high sensitivity and short period of viability (starts dying after only 3 days), this strain is not recommended to be sent outside of Europe (or any place with long transit times).. (Medium 514a, incubation time: 1-2 days, 28°C, aerobic)
