The 16S rDNA sequence of this strain indicates that it is a Rhodobium strain. The strain is identical with that held in the ATCC, but E. I. Kompantseva indicates that this strain does not correspond with the original description, indicating that an incorrect strain may be in circulation. Phototrophic. (Medium 27, 25°C, anaerobic in light)
