Myxococcales Collection
Professor Hans Reichenbach together with the working group "Natural Products" in the GBF, German Research Center for Biotechnology, now HZI, Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research, in Braunschweig, built up a unique collection of myxobacteria (order Myxococcales, class Deltaproteobacteria, phylum Proteobacteria) comprising about 5000 strains. The collection was established for the screening for novel and useful metabolites. It includes terrestrial isolates of all published genera and surely includes many strains representing novel taxa.
Currently, 2500 strains, e.g. members of Myxococcus (including "Corallococcus"), Angiococcus and Sorangium, are offered as actively growing cultures. Please note material transfer agreement and special price for these cultures. List of Genera (Myxococcales)
Please note: This list contains not only strains of the Reichenbach myxobacteria collection, but also other myxobacterial strains which previously have been deposited in the DSMZ.
