There are NO known Nagoya Protocol restrictions for this strain.
History:
<- U. Karsten, Universität Rostock, Germany; {2014} <- K. Witte, Universität Rostock, Germany; EDA {2002}
Genbank accession numbers:
16S + 23S partial sequence, intergenic spacer: EF654032.1
16S + 23S partial sequence, intergenic spacer: OR297867
16S + 23S partial sequence, intergenic spacer: OR297867
Cultivation conditions:
Medium 1673 , alternative medium: DSMZ Medium 1680, 17°C
At the DSMZ, the cyanobacterial cultures are usually cultivated without agitation in 25 cm2 plastic tissue culture flasks with filter screw caps. To subculture Coleofasciculus strains, scrape off the adhering cell material with a plastic Pasteur pipette and crush it by pipetting up and down several times. Alternatively, use a disposable pipette tip to dissect the cell material. Use 2-3 ml of the shredded biomass to inoculate 15 ml of fresh medium in a new tissue culture flask. Light cycle: 16 hours of illumination at 300-350 lux and 8 hours dark period. Transfer interval of 12 weeks.

additional information:
<- U. Karsten, Universität Rostock, Germany; {2014} <- K. Witte, Universität Rostock, Germany; EDA {2002}. Brackish habitat (6-12 PSU). Germany, Baltic Sea, Greifswald, Eldena. Sequence accession no. 16S + 23S partial sequence, intergenic spacer: EF654032.1, 16S + 23S partial sequence, intergenic spacer: OR297867. Phototrophic. It cannot be excluded that the strain produces cyanobacterial toxins that can be dangerous to humans and pets. DSM 104234 is a non-axenic culture. Strain-specific literature (27474).
