Utilizes naphthalene-2-sulfonic acids, amino- or hydroxysubstituted (substrates are transformed to the corresponding salicylic acids) (3953, 5139). (Medium 465 (with 0.1 g/l yeast extract, add 0.5 g/l 2-naphthalenesulfonic acid from a filter-sterilized stock solution) or medium 1a, 30°C)
