L-1210
ACC 123
Cell line:
L-1210
DSMZ no.:
ACC 123
Species:
murine (mouse) (Mus musculus)
Cell type:
lymphocytic leukemia
Origin:
established from the methylcholanthrene-induced tumor in a DBA strain mouse (subline 212, 8-month-old female) in 1949; the cells were propagated by heterotransplantation into DBA/2 mice; an in-vitro suspension culture was first reported in 1966; cells are used for cytotoxicity studies
Biosafety level:
1

Medium:
90% DMEM + 10% horse serum
Subculture:
maintain at 0.5-1.0 x 106 cells/ml; split 1:2 to 1:4 every 1-2 days; seed out at ca. 0.5-1.0 x 106 cells/ml
Incubation:
at 37 °C with 5% CO2
Doubling time:
ca. 50 hours
Harvest:
maximum density at about 2.0 x 106 cells/ml
Storage:
frozen with 70% medium, 20% horse serum, 10% DMSO
DSMZ Scientific Data:
Mycoplasma:
negative in DAPI, microbiological culture, RNA hybridization, PCR assays
Species validation:
Species-level identification was carried out by mitochondrial Cytochrome C Oxidase Subunit 1 (COI) DNA barcoding according standard ANSI/ATCC ASN-0003-2015 and revealed Mus musculus species.
Cytogenetics:
murine hypodiploid karyotype - 39(36-42), with about 75% polyploidy - about 77% of cells carry one or more rearrangements/aberrations
Viruses:
ELISA: reverse transcriptase positive; PCR: SMRV -
