Species validation:
Species-level identification was carried out by mitochondrial Cytochrome C Oxidase Subunit 1 (COI) DNA barcoding according standard ANSI/ATCC ASN-0003-2015 and revealed Mesocricetus auratus species.
Cytogenetics:
near-diploid golden (Syrian) hamster karyotype with 21% tetraploidy - 40-45, XY - hyperdiploid sideline present at 19% - resembles published description
