Assignment to the species Crinalium epipsammum is preliminary. Comments of the depositor; "Crinalium epipsammum is a filamentous cyanobacterium with trichomes composed of elliptical cells rather than circular. It is a terrestrial cyanobacterium growing in moving sand". Phototrophic. It cannot be excluded that the strain produces cyanobacterial toxins that can be dangerous to humans and pets. Non-axenic. Strain-specific literature (27363, 27364, 27356, 27366). (Medium 1593, 23°C, standing culture, 16 hours at 166 lux illumination, 8-hours dark period. Transfer interval of 8 weeks).
