The assignment to the species Parasynechococcus sp. is preliminary. Comparison of the partial 16S rRNA gene sequence of DSM 101362 (606 bp) to the NCBI nr data base indicated that this strain has the highest 16S rRNA gene similarity to strain Cyanobium sp. LEGE 06068. Accordingly, DSM 101362 most probably belongs to the genus 7.1.1 Parasynechococcus, species "7.1.1N" based on the phylogenetic tree given at: http://cyanophylogeny.scienceontheweb.net/strain.html.

Standing culture (no agitation), light cycle: 16 hours illumination at 600 lux and 8 hours dark period, transfer interval of 4 weeks.
. Phototrophic. It cannot be excluded that the strain produces cyanobacterial toxins that can be dangerous to humans and pets. Non-axenic. Strain-specific literature (40429, 40430). (Medium 1673, 17°C)
