Assignment to the species Synechococcus rubescens is preliminary. Comments of the depositor: "Synechococcus is a single cell picocyanobacterium. It is one of the most abundant photoautotrophs in temperate and tropical zones". Phototrophic. It cannot be excluded that the strain produces cyanobacterial toxins that can be dangerous to humans and pets. Non-axenic.
