Genbank accession numbers:
16S ribosomal gene RNA, partial sequence: NR_176585.1
Cultivation conditions:
Medium 1593 , 20°C
At the DSMZ, cyanobacterial cultures are usually cultivated without agitation in 25 cm² plastic tissue culture flasks with filter screw caps. To subculture DSM 112640, gently shake the flask to disperse the cyanobacteria, then use 1–1.5 ml of the biomass to inoculate 15 ml of fresh medium in a new tissue culture flask. The light cycle is 16 hours of illumination at 1200 lux followed by an 8-hour dark period. The transfer interval is 8 weeks.

Photobiont of saxicolous lichen Peltula clavata, located on seepage rock (2 m above sea level). Australia, Queensland. Type strain.. Taxonomy/description (40669). Sequence accession no. 16S ribosomal gene RNA, partial sequence: NR_176585.1. Phototrophic. It cannot be excluded that the strain produces cyanobacterial toxins that can be dangerous to humans and pets. Herbarium Hamburgense holotype number: HBG-025114. DSM 112640 is a non-axenic culture.
Amoebozoa of the species Vermamoeba (Hartmanella) vermiformis were detected in the culture
