There are NO known Nagoya Protocol restrictions for this strain.
History:
<- K. Glaser, Universität Rostock, Germany; KZ-23-2 {2012} <- T. Mikhailyuk, National Academy of Science of Ukraine, M. G. Kholodny Institute of Botany; KZ-23-2 {2012}
Genbank accession numbers:
16S + 23S partial sequence, intergenic spacer: MZ518093
Cultivation conditions:
Medium 1593 , 17°C
At the DSMZ, the cyanobacterial cultures are usually cultivated without agitation in 25 cm2 plastic tissue culture flasks with filter screw caps. To subculture DSM112876 scrape off the adhering cell material with a plastic Pasteur pipette and crush it by pipetting up and down several times. Use 1-2 ml of the shredded biomass to inoculate 15 ml of fresh medium in a new tissue culture flask. Light cycle: 16 hours of illumination at 2000 lux and 8 hours dark period. Transfer interval of 8 weeks.

Clay scree, biocrusts with dominance of cyanobacteria. Ukraine, the coast of the Sea of Azov, Kazantip Nature Reserve, cape Cherny, Crimea. Taxonomy/description (40208, 40197, 40209). Sequence accession no. 16S + 23S partial sequence, intergenic spacer: MZ518093. Phototrophic. It cannot be excluded that the strain produces cyanobacterial toxins that can be dangerous to humans and pets. DSM 112876 is a non-axenic culture. Strain-specific literature (40244).
