Pink filamentous cell masses from a hot spring. United States of America, Wyoming, Yellowstone National Park, Octopus Spring. Taxonomy/description (7342, 7416, 39974). Sequence accession no. 16S rRNA gene: null. G+C content 47.5 mol% (7342). DSM 12173 was published as type strain of the Thermocrinis ruber (# 7342 ), but later identified as a member of Thermocrinis albus (# 39974). The 16S rRNA gene sequence of the strain held in the DSMZ is not identical with the sequence AJ005640, which is attributed to the type strain. DSM 23557 replaces this strain as the type strain of Thermocrinis ruber.. Hyperthermophilic chemolithoautotrophic hydrogen oxidizer (7342). (Medium 887, incubation time: 2-3 days, 80°C, apply 2-3 bar N2 + 3% O2+3% H2)
