Produces restriction endonuclease RhpI (SalI), RhpII (2358). Growth on benzoate, p-hydroxybenzoate and quinate (7281). Until 2019 preserved as a Rhodococcus rhodochrous strain. Test results have identified the type strain of Rhodococcus aetherivorans as the next phylogenetic relative. (Medium 65, 28°C).
