Taxonomy/description (21219, 6352). Sequence accession no. 16S rRNA gene: D63786.1. Originally submitted as Halorubrum trapanicum ( NRC 34021, H. F. M. Petter). However, this strain does not appear to be identical with Petter's original isolate indicating that at some point the identity of the strain changed. This strain is identical with NCIMB 767, ATCC 43102, JCM 8979, and JCM 9742 16S rRNA gene sequence D63786, all of which are a Halococcus sp.. (Medium 372, 37°C)
