Remarks:
This strain tolerates a high concentration of copper (MIC = 4 mM CuSO4). DNA from strain AH strongly hybridizes with czc, cnr and chr specific probes cloned from Ralstonia eutropha CH34. The czc-like determinant of strain AH maps on the chromosome, cnr homologs of strain AH map on the chromosome and on the plasmid. The chromate resistance determinant seems to be plasmid borne, but only low chromate levels are tolerated. Strain expresses resistance to HgCl2 (MICs < 1 μM) but not to phenylmercuric acetate. The Hgr determinant of this strain shows homology to the mer determinant of Tn21 on plasmid pDU1003.
