Remarks:
Citrate-utilizing clinical isolate containing natural plasmid species of eight distinct sizes useful as molecular weight standards for agarose gel electrophoresis: pVA517A: 54.38 kb, pVA517B: 7.30 kb, pVA517C: 5.56 kb, pVA517D: 5.14 kb, pVA517E: 3.98 kb, pVA517F: 3.08 kb, pVA517G: 2.71 kb, pVA517H: 2.06 kb. Strain is resistant to cephalothin, kanamycin and amikacin, but the resistances don't seem to be plasmid-borne. Phenotypic functions have not yet been ascribed to any of the plasmids of strain V517. Isolate plasmids from mid-log phase cells following the protocol in Biochemistry 9: 4428-4439, 1970, exactly.
