FBS Documentation required for Shipment of Cell Lines

For the protection against the importation and spread of animal diseases shipment of biological samples that contain fetal bovine serum (FBS) might need specific documentation and import permits. Please check below if your planned deposit requires the provision of further documentation (e.g. certificate of analysis of the FBS used) or an import permit.

Open collection

An import permit is mandatory for shipments from outside EU to Germany. Please contact Dr. Sonja Eberth in advance to schedule the import permit application before shipment of the FBS-containing cell culture.

Patent deposit

An import permit is mandatory for shipments from outside EU to Germany. Specific documentation (e.g. certificate of analysis of the FBS used) is required for all patent deposits. Information on quality and origin of FBS (certificate of analysis) may be needed, if the samples shall – at any future time - be sent to countries outside the EU.

Safe Deposits

Safe deposits remain the sole property of the depositor and will not be part of the open collection. An import permit is mandatory for shipments from outside EU to Germany. Please contact Dr. Haicui Wang to schedule the import permit application before shipment of the FBS-containing cell culture.
Information on quality and origin of FBS (certificate of analysis) may be needed, if the samples shall – at any future time - be sent to countries outside the EU.
