Scientists of the Central Services are involved in international cooperations as contributors to scientific descriptions of novel bacterial taxa, in particular with respect to DNA-DNA hybridization, 16S rRNA gene sequence comparison, G+C determination, phenotypic characterization and chemotaxonomy.
The expertise in contemporary diagnostic methods like gene sequence analysis, ...fingerprint techniques and MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry is the basis for the involvement of staff scientists in international projects aimed at the build up and improvement of public databases:
