BacDive: Content Update

JMRC strains / link to EnteroBase

With the latest BacDive release (June 2026), there are now updated, corrected and additional information on strains from the Jena Microbial Resource Collection (JMRC) available. These can now also be viewed in a new Special Collection: JMRC. In addition, BacteriaNet genome-based predictions were updated. They could be calculated for 18,640 strains using a GenomeNet model trained with the deepG package in R with newly calibrated confidence scores. 41,128 predictions for Gram stain behavior, motility, oxygen tolerance and spore formation with confidence values of at least 90% could be fully integrated into the strain data and can now be seen in the respective sections marked with the AI icon.
BacDive now also links to EnteroBase, where overlaps between the two databases exist. EnteroBase is used for exploring the genomic epidemiology of pathogens. It assembles, analyses, and interprets bacterial genomes to provide insights for researchers, epidemiologists, and healthcare professionals.

BacDive is part of the DSMZ Digital Diversity plattform, an integrated suite of ten free accessible databases, including e.g. LPSN, BRENDA, SIlVA, StrainInfo and DSMZCellDive.
