Origin:
established from the peripheral blood of a 36-year-old woman with acute myeloid leukemia (AML FAB M2) in 1976; cells can be used for induction of differentiation studies; described in the literature to be responsive to DMSO, phorbol ester TPA and other reagents (e.g. expression of TNF alpha) and to carry amplified MYC gene; present cells are apparently tetraploid derivates of hypodiploid original where MYC was amplified in dmin (instead of hsr).
