one of five phenotypically and cytogenetically distinct subclones of a hybrid (ACH1P, DSMZ ACC 481) formed by somatic hybridization of primary male trophoblast cells and the HGPRT-defective choriocarcinoma cell line AC1-1 which was originally derived from cell line JEG-3 (DSMZ ACC 463)

Subculture:

at 37 °C with 5% CO₂

Doubling time:

ca. 40-50 hours

Harvest:

cell harvest of ca. 10 x 10⁶ cells/175 cm²

Mycoplasma:

initial contamination was eliminated with Baytril (enrofloxacin), then negative in microbiological culture, RNA hybridization and continuously in PCR assays
