one of five phenotypically and cytogenetically distinct subclones of a hybrid (ACH1P, DSMZ ACC 481) formed by somatic hybridization of primary male trophoblast cells and the HGPRT-defective choriocarcinoma cell line AC1-1 which was originally derived from cell line JEG-3 (DSMZ ACC 463); in contrast to the respective sister cell lines, AC-1M59 was described as expressing ERK5, cytokeratin I, TNF-R2, VEGFR-2 and IL-2

Subculture:
split confluent culture 1:3 to 1:4 every 3 days using trypsin/EDTA; seed out at ca. 1 x 106 cells/80 cm2; maintain at ca. 3 x 106 cells/80 cm2

at 37 °C with 5% CO2

ca. 50 hours

human flat-moded hypertetraploid karyotype with 8% polyploidy - 86-97<4n>XXXY, -4, +7, -8, +9, -13, -13, -18, +19, +2-5mar, del(X)(p11p22), der(X)(Xpter->Xq2?8::4p1?->4p1?::11q1?1->11qter), der(7)t(7;7)(p22;q11.22)add(7)(q32), add(7)(q32), add(9)(p24), add(11)(p15), i(13q), add(15)(p13), add(19)(p13)x1-2 - resembles published karyotype and those of sisters with minor, though consistent, differences (mirroring DNA profiles) - the DNA fingerprint finding of 3 alleles at loci D2S44 and D17S5 suggests additional human chromosomes
