carries NUP214-ABL1 fusion gene; of note: PEER is genetically identical to cell line BE-13 (DSMZ ACC 396); however, PEER carries a diploid and BE-13 a tetraploid karyotype suggesting that BE-13 is a subclone of PEER, rather than vice-versa

Subculture:
cells are very difficult to culture! Cells grow at best in 24-well-plates; seed out at ca. 1.0 x 106 cells/ml (culture should not be split during the first 3-4 days after thawing), then maintain at ca. 0.5-1.0 x 106 cells/ml; split saturated culture 1:2 every 2-3 days
