Assignment to the species Chroococcus sp. is preliminary. Comment of the depositor: "Chroococcus is a single cell cyanobacterium. It is usually found in colonies of two, four, or eight cells with a transparent protective covering sheath". Phototrophic. It cannot be excluded that the strain produces cyanobacterial toxins that can be dangerous to humans and pets. Non-axenic.
