Based on partial 16S rRNA gen sequence comparisons (1092 bp), DSM 101421 shows high 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity of 99.63 % to Cyanocohniella rudolphia SY-1-2-Y (DSM 113757; MT946558). The similarity values for DSM 101421 and other species of the genus Cyanocohniella are significantly lower. DSM 101421 could therefore most possibly be assumed as a strain of the species Cyanocohniella rudolphia. Comment of the depositor: "DSM 101421 is a diazotrophic filamentous cyanobacterium. Heterocysts present". Fixes nitrogen. Phototrophic. It cannot be excluded that the strain produces cyanobacterial toxins that can be dangerous to humans and pets. DSM 101421 is a non-axenic strain.
